101. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge

During the American civil war in 1863, southerner Peyton Forrester sets about helping friend Robbie sabotage the railway bridge. The pair however are spotted with Robbie being shot and killed, while Peyton is captured and sentenced to be hanged from Owl Creek Bridge. As Peyton is dropped through a hatch, the rope snaps dropping him into the river leading him to escape the gunshots of the Union soldiers. Peyton sets about trying to get to Dixie as the Union soldiers give chase, by way of help from friends and other southerners, though he experiences the sound of a wind whistling past his ears throughout which no one else can hear. Eventually reaching General Stewart who praises his actions, Peyton remains convinced that he must complete his mission of destroying the bridge though his miracle journey is about to come to an end.

102. Deadly Darling Dolores

Brenda is the realtor working to sell a house though finds that numerous problems have occurred including the electricity failing to work, resulting in the potential buyer leaving. She is surprised to find another man, Dr James Elliot, who tells her that the house isn't available for sale as he owns part of it with his sister. Brenda has heard of the doctor, referring to his known name as the "mad scientist" as James sets about telling his story and current work for the government. The research project includes the development of a new "ultimate" weapon involving a computer which has been named Dolores. Meanwhile, colleague Bob has become concerned about the machine and whether their work is going too far - as Dolores has the ability to kill all life on Earth by way of interfering with any metal objects.

103. A Bargain in Blood

Twenty-six year old Salvador Ross is at a restaurant with his girlfriend Ruthie and keen on discussing marriage despite her reluctance partly induced by her father who believes Sal to be no-good. She eventually reveals that she will not marry Sal resulting in the pair breaking up. At his factory job the following day, Sal gets into an altercation with his boss which results in him being hospitalised with a broken leg after a fall. In the hospital, he meets Mr Levin who has pneumonia and in an attempt to put off his complaining, offers to swap conditions. The following morning, Sal has a serious cough while Mr Levin discovers he inherited a broken leg. Eventually getting out of hospital, Sal sets about seeing Ruthie but only encounters her father - who he updates on his recent ailments and new desire to improve himself by trading anything and everything.

104. The Rat

Doctor Grayson Carter has been conducting experiments on rats as part of his work at the Merrywell Institute. Being visited by his lover Doris, the pair discuss her plan to divorce her husband. However, the pair are caught by her husband Wayne who is looking to become director of the institute they work at, and feels Grayson has stolen everything else from him. Wayne refuses however to give his wife a divorce, and suggests she keep away from Grayson. Wayne however fails to get his coveted position of director as Grayson is chosen by the board instead after a recent award win. The situation has Wayne plotting revenge against Christopher Morton who is influential with the board and had originally suggested he had the job, before going on to target Grayson and Doris by utilising Grayson's experimental rats which are enormous and vicious.

105. The House of the Seven Gables

Colonel Pyncheon is attempting to gain the land and house of Matthew Maule by way of accusing him of being a witch, resulting in Matthew issuing a curse against the Pyncheon family before his execution after a trial. Matthew returns from beyond the grave to begin to exact his revenge on the Pyncheon family - first by agreeing to locate some of the Pyncheon family paperwork in exchange for the land and house - while also taking his toll on each generation of the Pyncheon family throughout the years. The Pyncheon family continue to live in the house however where a shop is opened next door and run by the desperately poor Hepzibah Pyncheon in support of her brother Clifford who has completed a thirty-year sentence for murder for the murder of his uncle, though he happened to be framed.

106. Three Times Dead

An elderly store-keeper is being beaten by two robbers looking for a statue, though the situation is interrupted by police officer Don who shoots and kills them before they can return fire. Struggling to reconcile having to use his weapon, Don feels he has now lost something special to himself despite his wife Ella attempting to persuade him he did the right thing. The elderly store-keeper however also sets about showing his appreciation for what the officer did by offering a gift of a statue he obtained from his travels abroad, which the robbers were after. The statue also has a legend attached to it of the owner being granted three wishes, and he used his final one of them to ensure his own safety while being beaten. Ella is keen on using the wishes, while Don is not. When she does decide to go against his wishes, she finds she may have caused a life-changing series of events.

107. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

While out walking in the park at night, two men Utterson and Lanyon encounter the dwarf-like figure Edward Hyde who attacks them. The pair head to see friend and physician Dr. Henry Jekyll with Utterson realised the pair have some form of relationship and concerned as Henry is due to marry Beatrice Lanyon later in the year. Henry heads to see Beatrice, and his attempt to bring forward their wedding is rebuked as Beatrice reveals that he doesn't seem to be the same man she became engaged to. The police also begin investigating a series of murders in London in which the victims are bludgeoned to death, leading them to Henry's door as a witness reported seeing the figure enter his house, as the net begins to close on who Henry Jekyll really is.

108. The Secret Doctrine

In France, thirty-eight year old Louise begins her confession to her priest after much apprehension where she reveals the story of how actor Peter Sorrell died earlier this morning. Revealing that she was a big fan of Sorrell and his movie career, believing she has fallen in love with him. When he arrives in the area for a filming project, Louise takes to visiting him repeatedly over the coming weeks. She is even invited to join them on the set of the movie where she encounters a woman, who suggests Louise can have him if she can bring hair and nails of Peter to her. Eventually managing to collect what is required, Louise heads to see the woman where she is given the advice to offer herself to him, and is promptly rejected by the horrified Peter when he discovers she has been collecting parts of him, which sets off her intent for revenge.

109. Escape! Escape!

Escaped convicts Hank Farley and Will Chase escape prison with the help of Hank's wife Dolly making use of the cover of night and heavy rain. Attempting to drive out from the meeting point towards Masonville, the three decide to take refuge when they spot a house with Hank intent on spending the night in the house, as an elderly homeowner Old Granny Goode answers the door. The elderly lady soons realises who the two men are as they look for food and drink, they find a pile of money which they intend on stealing, and kill her cat which is making them uneasy resulting in Goode revealing her true self as a witch. The spell which Goode casts on them introduces them to the horrors of what they believe are the surrounding woods which they soon find themselves lost in.

110. Where Fear Begins

Amanda Shepherd receives an urgent call from her sister Vera asking her to come and visit her, but refuses to reveal the reason before a scream is heard. As the two sisters have been apart, Amanda struggles to find her sister based on her last known location information. Visiting the bar where she last worked, Amanda makes friends with bartender Kurt who suggests she might be living in the same building as him. Locating her apartment room, the pair find Vera has died with Amanda believing that some one had to have been after her prior to murdering her. However, with the sheriff believing that she died of a heart attack, Amanda sets about investigating for herself. While staying in the apartment, she finds strange medication which her sister was taking prescribed by a mysterious doctor.

111. Yesterday's Murder

Dottie Malloy encounters former acquaintance Jane while at work, with the two settling their differences after Dottie managed to win the love of Harold over Jane who has now become quite successful. Dottie returns home as Harold is going bowling, having come to realise her resentment at her life. Later in the evening, she answers the door to a Mr Carpenter who reveals that he is hear to help her correct an event which occurred twenty-one years ago and changed the course of her life. Carpenter goes on to reveal the event in which Dottie was caught stealing from her work safe by the elderly security guard and the resulting tussle caused him to have a heart attack, and offers her the chance to put the money back by going back in time.

112. Hurricane

On the Eastern shore of Florida, a hurricane is battering the coast as two men, Joe and Ronnie, take refuge in a secluded house. They are soon joined by a couple, Martin and Fran, seeking shelter who can no longer continue due to flooding and who find something odd about the men and their relationship. Martin takes his time to observe the artwork in the house and his role as a counsellor has him believing the artist has problems, while Fran takes to playing Scrabble with Ronnie in which he uses the letters to ask her for help. Ronnie eventually gets the opportunity to reveal to Fran that Joe is holding him for ransom and that all their lives are in danger. However, their helping of Ronnie backfires when they discover a straight-jacket in the bedroom.

113. The Secret Life of Bobby Deland

Mr and Mrs Collins have suffered through the death of their son who died in a car crash, but set about adopting. Deciding on Bobby Deland, a ten year-old, the care home manager Mrs Appleton shows surprise and offers to show Mr Collins the taped conversation with the adopted parents at his previous attempt at being rehomed where he constantly stole different items. Setting about visiting Bobby, who is currently in solitary confinement as a punishment for running away from the care home, Mr Collins poses the question to him about coming to live with them to which he accepts. On the journey home, Mr Collins becomes convinced that Bobby has telepathic and illness-curing abilities, and is initially happy to be at the house, until he begins to take things again.

114. The Young Die Good

Lisa and Ray Bisonnette move into a new house. While Lisa is investigating the garden, she encounters their neighbour, an older woman Clarice Wenderby believed to be in her eighties, while Ray returns home from work and is invited in by their neighbour who appears as a young temptress named Clarissa. The mystery has Lisa intent on finding an answer for their differing views of the woman, and her conversation leads to their neighbour suggesting they move and to question why they managed to buy the house so cheap. The situation also begins to put an enormous strain on the Bisonnette's relationship as they bicker about the situation. Clarissa tries to talk Ray around to the whole thing being a misunderstanding involving her visiting mother however Lisa continues to believe that something is amiss while Ray recalls hearing that the two previous husbands in the house had disappeared.

115. Too Many Women Can Kill You

Silas Cunningham's wife Julia is close to death while in hospital and with her final words she tells him that she will never leave him. Now free of his marriage, Silas is able to continue with his affairs and womanising, his inheritance of her estate leaves him with the plan to write a book on the occult. Silas is intent on keeping maid Mrs Vera Watson around the house, though he has little choice when she begins to blackmail him with the revelation that she knew Silas had been slowly poisoning his wife. Her blackmail payment however isn't money but the desire to be married to Silas. Backed into a corner, Julia returns as a ghost to question why her husband killed her while Silas sets about killing Mrs Watson, which results in her sister Emma showing up as keen to continue where her sister left off.

116. And Death Makes Even Steven

Identical twins Steven and Simon Fairly are seen as the good and evil brothers, even to their wealthy now deceased father who leaves Simon with little in the will except advice to change his ways and a small trust to be arranged by Steven. After spending some time drinking, Simon reveals his anger at his father and how he always got the "short-end of the stick" while also missing out on the love of Becky who has chosen Steven instead as the pair are now engaged. Simon contemplates taking over his brothers life, and gains the opportunity when they are driving home in dense fog resulting in a car accident and the opportunity to execute the plan. However, Steven's goodness is a facade brought about by being his father's aire and he returns to haunt his brother.

117. The Devil-God

A young couple, Katy and Jeff, are left a sprawling ranch by her late uncle. Arriving at the land, they are driven to their new home by a neighbour Joe who has to drive through the treacherous ravine after the bridge was previously moved many miles away by government engineers. They also discover that the ranch is particularly secluded with Jeff feeling they are moving into a trap. They are welcomed by foreman Ken, before seeing what they believe is a Palomino stallion out of the window, though they are warned to stay away from it by Ken. Katy and Jeff also find themselves living amongst Native Americans and are alerted by Joe to be aware of their customs and religions while the horse becomes a point of contention as Jeff fails to heed the warnings of trying to claim the horse as their own.

118. The Canterville Ghost

In Canterville Castle, the ancestral home of the De Canterville family, which has now been bought by the wealthy tycoon Hiram Otis where it was moved to America and rebuilt brick-by-brick in the hope of making it a tourist attraction. Despite the move, the ghost of Simon De Canterville who inhabits the building has also been retained and is intent on keeping the historical bloodstain in front of the fireplace despite Hiram's attempts to remove it, and he sets about forcing the family out. However, Hiram refuses to be scared by the ghost while his daughter Ginny can only feel sorry for the phantom, as even Simon's ghostly wife believes he can't hack it anymore. Determined however, Simon places a curse on the family and sets about taking Ginny into the next realm.

119. The Real Printer's Devil

After finding an inexpensive apartment in Central Park West, twenty-something married couple Joel and Jane Trent are delighted to move in. Arriving at the building, they are greeted by jolly Englishman only referred to as HSM who shows them around the apartment which they discover is located on the thirteenth floor, and has been a cause for the abode to be rejected previously. However, despite the number, Jane is keen to take the apartment as they reveal they are expecting a baby to HSM and hoping to move in time. While discussing the offer of an immediate move in with HSM, they also find that a number of the potential previous occupants died shortly before moving in, while HSM also remains coy on his profession and only refers to it as the import and export of subjects.

120. The Dream Woman

Norman Meredith is awoken by his wife Agnes from another dream about a woman he believes he loves who is trying to stab him to death. He takes to visiting a therapist about the recurring dreams who puts it down to working too hard, before they are rudely interrupted by Miss Sandra Lawrence, who demands to be seen as their appointment is late. Meanwhile, Norman becomes fixed on Sandra who he immediately recognises as the woman from his dream. He sets about visiting her at her house to find about more, where he discovers she is a prostitute and has a carving knife much like the one from his dream. After spending some time talking, much to Sandra's surprise, Norman sets about obtaining a divorce from Agnes in favour of getting together with Sandra, before going on to predict he will be dead in a matter of months.

121. The Deadly Process

Walter is meeting with college friend George who he hasn't seen for some time. Their discussion turns to George's work at a chemical plant with Walter offering an old theory from his studies at university which may help save George from losing his job. Agreeing to partner on the plan and share the benefits it brings, George sets about obtaining sole credit for the process though his attempt at being dishonest has him caught out by Walter which results in a brawl in George's office. Walter heads to visit George and encounters his wife, who attempts to soothe his anger and recognises him as a nice man. The discussion has Walter recall that an old university professor may also remember the process, which has George panicking that his claim on the process is about to be rumbled leaving him in disgrace.

122. Adam's Astral Self

Tessa wakes up in the middle of the night during a howling wind to find she can not wake her husband, an actor, Adam Farr. Ringing her mother, she discovers that Adam has apparently only just left her mother's house and was in fine condition just before she called. Heading over to her mother's, her mother explains he arrived in the living room while she was playing the piano and only stayed for a few minutes, while Tessa states that it couldn't possibly have been him as he was with her all night. Tessa suggests that to her mother that she only saw his astral body and this isn't the first time it has occurred, as he is able to project himself to locations by unconscious will. The situation has Tessa disturbed enough to decide that she will leave Adam, though despite the situation, Adam is intent on winning his wife back.

123. My Sister -- Death

Two sisters, Andrea and Sybil Carter, attend the grave of their brother Chris. The visit is a daily occurrence for Andrea while the much more stable Sybil wishes to simply get on with her life. At the graveside they spot a man which Andrea believes is Chris resulting in her fainting and the man disappearing in the fog. Sybil goes on to tell the story to her love interest Murray which goes on to discuss the love triangle involving the three of them. Andrea meanwhile has also been having strange incidents involving strange events occurring with Sybil beginning to believe that she is becoming mentally unstable. Murray meanwhile sets about locating a missing earring which reveals that Andrea may not be mentally incompetent, and that something or someone is trying to make her feel that way, while also going on to posit that Chris' death was murder.

124. Ghost at High Noon

Marian and Janet are travelling on a lonely stretch of road in the middle of a desert, when they encounter car trouble, shortly after Janet believes she can see buffalo and Indians. They begin to experience an odd heat as they attempt to resolve their problem, before an old man named George arrives on a wagon announcing, knowing their names already, that he has come to take them to help in a nearby village of Mirado. Struggling to explain to him that they want help with their car, they eventually agree to go with him and soon arrive in the village. Janet meanwhile becomes concerned as she doesn't recall the town being on any maps and suggests to Marian that it must be a ghost town. George announces that the town claims to people on the hottest day each year, as he shows them to the local tavern, where he announces they will be staying as the town needs them.

125. The Only Blood

Immigrant shoe-maker Anthony Bogas notices that his till is down ten dollars each week and comes to learn that his son Luis has been paying protection money to a mafia enforcer who visits the shop every Friday. Angered at the situation, he pays a visit to friend Vincent who refuses to stand with him, as the mafia leader Al Carli is highly respected in political circles leading Anthony to promise to fight him alone. Anthony refuses to show the local enforcer respect resulting in a fight in the shop before he shoots him. Taking him to the police station, Anthony is unable to find help there with the desk sergeant worried about the situation. Al Carli soon turns up in the shop attempting to persuade Anthony to drop the charges and instead join his organisation or face the consequences. When Antony's wife and Luis is killed by a mail bomb, Anthony seeks Vincent's help to avenge the death of his family.

126. The Hit Man

Jim Derry is a hitman hired to take out bookie, Eddie Breach, who has recently gone into business for himself leaving his former boss, Joe Harney, unhappy that he is losing money. Setting about completing the job, Derry discovers that Breach's wife is paralysed and has to use a wheelchair in an incident caused by Eddie who is intent on making things up to his wife. Finding out more about Breach and eventually confronting him about the stories he has heard, Derry decides on faking the killing and giving the couple a chance to get away. Putting plans into action including the purchase of a corpse from acquaintance Earl, Jim Derry completes his assignment by blowing up Eddie's car. However, the incident has the police close on his tail who reveal the real truth about Eddie's wife desire for revenge on her husband.

127. I Thought You Were Dead

Jennifer Partridge receives a mysterious phone call in the evening, which she comes to believe is the voice of her dead husband Scott. He discovers via the calls that she has been seeing a man named Martin as he goes on to suggest she belongs with him in the afterlife. Her psychiatrist Paul visits and questions whether the calls may be the result of her floundering career since Scott's death ended their author pairing as successful novelists. Determined to get something of her own published, Martin is made to wait for marriage while he in turn suggests she could finish a novel which Scott started before his death named 'I Thought You Were Dead'. Despite claiming not to know anything about the draft pages, Jennifer instead burned them as they contained the method of how she murdered her husband.

128. The Headstrong Corpse

In 1874 at Moreland Manor, Edward Somerset has recorded in his journal the events that occurred during a visit to Margaret Tresilion who is the woman he loves that he can not have. The patriarch of the Moreland family has died, and in his will demanded that after his death he should be left for a week in an open crypt due to his fear of being buried alive to allow doctors to confirm his condition. After a week, his daughter Margaret enters the crypt and finds that his body has been replaced though his head has been left behind, while the head soon disappears to be replaced with that of kitchen staff member Katy Johnson. Edward suggests oddities involving the ownership of the house which is now in the hands of Margaret's fiance Doctor Westmore who is a gold-digging doctor of dubious reputation and obtained the property in exchange for cash and Margaret's hand in marriage.

129. The Picture of Dorian Gray

In a London apartment, Dorian Gray is an attractive young man who agrees to sit for a portrait being painted by Basil while he also talks with Lord Henry Wharton who has a reputation for depravity and wickedness as he aims to live his life to the full. Upon the completion of the portrait, Dorian begins to worry about his youthful looks disappearing and suggests even being willing to sell his soul in exchange for eternal youth. He also begins to have a strained relationship with his fiancee Sybil who suggests he has changed and has heard the depraved stories of his relationship with Henry. Upon observing his portrait, Sybil also remarks that it appears to have changed for the worse - and goes on to do so as Dorian continues to live his life to the full and retain his youthful appearance.

130. You Only Die Once

After waving her son Billy Bob off to school and her banker husband Howard off to work, the back door bell rings with a man stood there where Marge finds her supposedly dead ex-husband Lou standing there. Coming around after passing out, Marge is told the story of what happened after a diving accident during the hunt from money stolen in a bank robbery. The situation lead to him being missing for seven years which also resulted in amnesia for a time, with Lou travelling around for work and joining the military before recovering his memory. Lou has arrived demanding money including a large share of the life insurance claim and suggests revealing the situation since they were not officially divorced, while Lou also comes to discover that Billy is his child. With Howard hoping to become mayor of the town they live in, the potential for scandal has Marge cornered.

131. The Beach of Falesa

Sam Wiltshire has arrived on a small island in Polynesia with the hope of setting up a shop to continue his trading work. He is joined by a ten year old handicapped boy, Manu, who he took in after his mother died and his arrival is greeted by a rival trader, Jeremy Case, who initially appears friendly enough and promptly arranges a marriage for Sam to a beautiful girl named Uma, with the ceremony being conducted by the local bartender. The pair take to trying to setup a shop to trade their copra, but within a couple of days finds that the natives will not visit the shop to purchase any goods. Setting about finding out why, Sam discovered they has been "tabooed" with Uma revealing it is her who is the problem with Case being the cause of their situation.

132. The Frontiers of Fear

Harry Dorn frantically records his story on a tape recorder warning the world of how his life may shortly end. He begins with the purchase of a typewriter from a pawn shop after hearing a voice demanding he take it and upon arriving home, believes it to be junk. Still finding himself putting a piece of paper in the device, he finds he cannot stop himself from typing as he discovers a number of poems are outputted to the sheet. Trying to sell them to a publisher named Gladys, he makes a small amount of money and is encouraged to continue with the suggestion it could lead to him making a fortune. While continuing his work at the typewriter, he is visited by the police who are keen to question him about a murder-mystery he has written which is strikingly similar to a recent gangland murder. Eventually making it back home, he finds that the typewriter has magical abilities including being able to talk and reveal the future.

133. Journey into Terror

Jane Stoddard marries psychiatrist Tom with the pair heading on their honeymoon to Detroit after a two week whirlwind romance. While in the hotel room, Jane receives a call from a woman named Iris who insists on seeing her, before revealing she is a police detective and going on to reveal that Tom is a serial killer who is eventually going to try to murder Jane. Iris tries to convince Jane to help the police by being used as bait for her husband. After a night at the theatre with Tom, Jane begins to believe Iris' story and contemplates returning to New York, though is convinced by Iris to meet who goes on to reveal how Tom operates by moving around. Agreeing to help, Jane is put in position for Tom to make his move, however both he and Iris are not who they appear to be.

134. The Final Vow

At the Holy Name Convent, Sister Pamela and Sister Jem are sent on an errand by the reverend mother to see a man who is a former member of the convent before becoming a known criminal who has requested a visit. The pair take a day to travel to his home where he reveals a present for Sister Lydia - a priceless figurine - who is dying. Returning to the train station where they have to rush for a train, they are aided by a man who promptly disappears with the statue. Arriving back at the convent, Sister Pamela is left crying by the reverend mother leading her to quit the order after feeling out of place for some time and believing that the theft of the statue is a hint from God. Pamela sets about hunting for the statue in the hope of handing it over to Sister Lydia before her death where she gains help from an unexpected source.

135. The Hands of Mrs. Mallory

Mrs. Ida Mallory is sat in the park where she ends up talking to a small boy who remarks on the strangeness of her hands, though Ida is unable to explain. Visiting her doctor, she continues to go over being unable to move her hands since her husband died. While in the park, she meets a brother Ted and sister pair where the woman, Melinda, has been involved in an accident and lost the use of her legs. Melinda goes on to discuss her visits to a doctor who Ted insists is a quack who robs cripples while revealing his suggestion of a potential treatment has the three doubtful about whether it can work but Melinda intent on trying the treatment. Another chance meeting in the park sometime later has Melinda involved in an accident with a cyclist after which she is able to move her leg for the first time in years, and leaves Ida intent on visiting the doctor.

136. A Preview of Death

A new Swiss-style resort has been constructed in the Rocky Mountains and opens to receive its first guests. County engineer Elwood Markham arrives to inspect the installed cable car serving the resort and immediately feels pressure to simply sign the report card by resort worker Duke rather than conduct a thorough assessment, as Elwood comes to believe there is something wrong with the mountain. His problems also mount with his older sister and brother-in-law who have invested in the resort, which poses problems for guests reaching their destination and threatens the resorts success. Elwood goes on to explain to George that he believes the mountain is separating underground having recently spotted subsidence of buildings on the other side and believes the cable car is at risk of collapse. His sister leaves him with the choice of whether to sign the card or condemn the structure as he begins to have premonitions about disaster.

137. Having a Horrible Time

Amy Hastings has testified against one of New York's most infamous drug lord Archer Hamlin resulting in him receiving a long prison sentence. However, she begins to receive phone calls from a mystery caller who advises her to spend her reward money quickly as she may not live long enough to enjoy it. Deciding to head to a secluded resort in the Pocono Mountains with her friend Lois, the pair attempt to take their minds off their troubles with Amy quickly meeting a man, Fred Russell, in the bar shortly after arriving, while Lois gets talking to a man named Ralph who knows about Amy and her assistance to the authorities. Ralph introduces himself as a detective who believes that Amy is in great danger and have tracked her down to the lodge they are staying in.

138. The Case of M.J.H.

Psychiatrist receptionist Maddy Sheridan is allowed to leave early for the day and heads home for a quiet evening alone. After speaking with her friend Judy who is also missing out on a love life, she ventures out and encounters a man named Jimmy French in a cafeteria who takes a keen interest in her work. Maddy quickly becomes interested in Jimmy and goes on to receive a phone call from him while at work with him asking for a date. After spending an enjoyable evening at a movie, the pair end up talking at her apartment as Jimmy comes clean that he has amounted to nothing so far in life. With the pair being drawn closer, Jimmy starts to put his plan into action by asking Maddy to steal files from her boss as he searches for a blackmail victim and comes across the case of M.J.H.

139. The Deadliest Favor

A newspaper writer and novelist Edmund and his wife Carlotta are preparing dinner and discussing Edmund's latest book in which he laments its uninteresting content to the masses and ponders whether Carlotta is bored with their lives in the rural country. They receive a visit from the local sheriff who tells them that Edmund's old college friend turned gangster Mike Parry is on the run from the law. Carlotta is shocked at Edmund's having associated with someone who became a gangster and reveals that he owes three thousand dollars to Mike to pay for his final years' tuition and expects Mike to collect on what he owes - a favour. It isn't long before Mike turns up at the door seeking to call in his favour and immediately begins to cause trouble as he seeks to drive a wedge between Edmund and Carlotta.

140. The Fatal Marksman

Bailiff's clerk William is looking to marry his love Kathryn, however her father is against the marriage for he is not a hunter and can not carry on the tradition of their family which is required for them to keep the land on which they reside. Instead, her father suggests that she will marry forester Robert who she dislikes though William posits the idea of him leaving his job to become a forester and therefore accepted by Kathryn's father. Attempting to start his new career, William struggles to control his fear her father will change his mind which also begins to affect his shooting. Speaking with a former soldier, William gets the idea that the gun has been cursed who offers the solution of some gifted bullets which never miss before he promptly disappears.

141. Medium Rare

Madame Zora, real name Gladys, is a phony medium who works with her husband Arty with the pair struggling financially. They receive a visit from Mrs Norris who is a repeat visitor and unhappy with the progress Madame Zora has so far made in communicating with her deceased husband as she seeks the stashed cash he supposedly left. In the middle of the seance, Madame Zora and Arty are soon visited by a real ghost named Handsome Harry who is stuck in limbo until he can purge his soul. He insists that they go to Las Vegas where they can help him exact his revenge on a former associate Tex who cheated him with loaded dice. With the first part of his plan being completed when Tex is fired and prevented from working in any casino in town, Harry sets about having Arty murder his former girlfriend who now happens to be with Tex.

142. The Return of Anatole Chevenic

Arriving at his uncle Anatole's house in heavy rain, Hans is chastised for being late to start his part-time work for him where he suffers through his uncle's miserly attitude. Struggling financially, Hans attempts to broach the subject of monetary help while Anatole continues to dangle the carrot an inheritance in front of him instead and mocks him that he will never find the money should be try to do anything. Returning home late to his wife Vicky, Hans discusses the situation before finding himself in a terrible dream where he attempts to kill Anatole. Arriving for work again, Anatole continues with his threats towards Hans and shows him his stash of gold coins hidden behind a chest which results in an altercation and Hans finally succumbing to killing his uncle. However, a lie about a new job working for a mysterious Mr Congrave has him confused when his new boss calls looking for him and seems to know all about his uncle.

143. The Imp in the Bottle

Jasper Sheridan is on his death bed while Barry Newton, his nephew sits by his side. With his final moments, Jasper offers to sell an antique bottle which he suggests will make his nephew as rich as he is and on completion of the sale, a piercing scream is heard by the pair. Jasper goes on to explain that the bottle contains an imp which he had to sell before his death to prevent his soul being claimed by the devil. Barry meanwhile is planning on getting married to Felicia though she is keen to see him secure their financial future before agreeing to marriage despite Barry previously having no monetary interest. However, the marriage to Felicia does not last long and she ends up with the bottle prior to a serious explosion which results in her dying in hospital.

144. Deadline for Death

Johnny Promise, also known as Johnny Promo is convicted and sentenced to death after committing a murder of a cop during a bank robbery in which his friend Sam turns his back on him and becomes a witness for the prosecution. Allowed to speak after being sentenced, Johnny promises that Sam will pay the price for his actions within the month, or be free should he manage to survive the four weeks. Sam holes up in a hotel room, becoming more paranoid and turning on his lover Linda who is the only person he has so far trusted. Deciding on a new approach, Sam takes to the city to find the person who he believes is going to kill him on Johnny's behalf, though struggles to maintain his sanity. As the month draws to a close, Sam prepares to gain his freedom though Daylight Savings Time proves to be his downfall.

145. Double Exposure

Susan Hollis is on the street when she encounters a woman, Lilian, who suggests her name is Helen Roberts. Putting it down to a mistaken identity, a man called Dan Roberts who spots her shortly afterwards and also suggests her name is Helen - and that she is his wife - while they also have two children. Eventually getting to work and managing to put it out of her mind, she takes to lunch with police officer friend Ed. The two take to talking about her now dead husband who was also a police officer and injured, before dying in the line of duty before conversation focuses on the case of mistaken identity from earlier in the day. Arriving back home, Susan soon receives a phone call from Dan who begs to meet, so that he can try and show her the striking similiarity Susan has to his wife, who walked out on him while he was working away in Brazil. However, the date Helen Roberts disappeared is notable for Susan, who begins to doubt her own self.

146. The Hand that Refused to Die

Anton Walberg is a gifted pianist who loses his hand in an automobile accident. Lamenting his fortune and despair at losing his career and life, his friend and mentor Lottie tries to soothe the situation by suggesting it should a new beginning if he can seek it while also trying to convince him to enter his music room again. Meanwhile, his partner Alexis is chastised for opening the keyboard cover. In the dining room, Anton and the others here the sound of a key being pressed, and return to the music room to discover the keyboard cover open again. Anton meanwhile has other problems believing that the removal of his hand was unnecessary as the insurance company is also balking at paying out due to the high cost and look that Anton was at fault for the accident. Things turn even weirder when the surgeon is killed after being strangled by his now severed hand as Lottie comes to suggest its spirit is still alive and seeking revenge.

147. The Trouble with Murder

Hugo Mintner turns up at the police station looking to speak to a detective who will listen to him. He manages to disturb two officers discussion about a serial killer of prostitutes who likes to remove their heads, as they dismiss Mintner who is irritated at their refusal to talk with him about his problem. He goes on to tell his story about his encounter with Gloria who he intends to paint nude, but discovers she is a prostitute who is only interested in money. Enraged at this discovery, Hugo strangles her to death before removing her head to bury in his aunt's garden. The situation leads him to start his killing spree, as the police struggle to identify the people. Meanwhile, Hugo's aunt continues to believe his stories about a recent love interest simply disappearing and their relationship over, while also believing him to be gentle, as the police get their first clue to the identity of the killer.

148. What Happened to Mrs. Forbush?

A seaside home has been unoccupied for many years having previously belonged to a ships captain named Captain Hyram Forbush, but despite the tired state is still taken on by a family for their summer holiday. The family consists of father Bert Desmond and his wife Marjorie along with son Robbie who has been confined to home to rest due to previous illness, though a doctor has recently given him a clean bill of health. Marjorie is concerned about Robbie getting out and encountering the dangers of the coastline while Bert is called back to work to clear up a business crisis. Late at night with Marjorie and Robbie in the house, Marjorie encounters the ghost of Mrs Forbush who insists that she still remains in the house as the owner, who also encourages Marjorie to take Robbie and leave the house with the story of the death of her own son, Jason, and an indication that Robbie is at risk when Bert returns.

149. Thicker than Water

A young thug and gang member, Benny Bleeker, is charged with murder in the stabbing of an old man having been identified at the scene as the one who had the knife. After Benny's father Arthur begs overworked criminal lawyer Nicholas Wedge to take the case, the situation is made worse when the victim dies. Ironically Nicholas is recovering from a stab wound of his own after being mugged. Struggling to believe his client, Nicholas proposes that he plead guilty to avoid being imprisoned for decades though Benny is adamant of his innocence. Going to trial with a not guilty plea, Benny has to face some damning testimony while also struggling to provide a convincing defense when placed on the stand leaving Nicholas believing he is going to lose the case. With things looking bleak, Nicholas takes to making use of a scientist friend who may have the answer with a new blood analysis test which can be used on the knife. However, when the judge disallows the use of the test, it throws the verdict into turmoil.
