Twilight Zone Radio Dramas (Volume 4)

The Dummy

Ventriloquist Jerry Etherson performs with his dummy Willie in a small club in New York City. He has also started drinking heavily again much to the dismay of his agent, who suggests that his second-rate act will be gone if he carries on. He is also completating replacing Willie with a different dummy, and takes to locking him in a trunk. However, his situation gets worse when Willie sets about getting revenge for being replaced.

No Time Like the Past

Paul Driscoll has become disillusions with the twentieth century and sets about travelling back in time to fix the problems of the past. He attempts to warn the captain of the Lusitania of a torpedo attack, is primed for an assassination attempt on Hitler, and tries to alert Japan of a nuclear bomb being dropped on Hiroshima. Struggling to effect the past, he lands in Homeville where he discovers that travelling back in time can be the cause of problems rather than the solution.

Still Valley

Two Confederate soldiers enter a valley to scout Union soldiers coming through, and discover them frozen in place where their attempts to wake the men fail. The pair come across a man named Teague who claims to have frozen the soldiers, and profers that he can stop the Union army if he so wanted. However, he believes himself dead by the end of the day and instead offers the use of his spellbook to Confederate solier Paradine - though taking up the offer comes at a cost.

King Nine Will Not Return

During the course of World War II, Captain James Embry is flying the King Nine aircraft with two other crew members when they are hit and crash into the desert. Hitting the ground hard, Embry awakens having been thrown clear of the plane, and when he heads back aboard the wreckage, discovers himself to be completely alone. Finding only remnants of the other crew such as a hat and canteen, but no bodies, he attempts to figure out what has happened before illusions of his former crew mates begin to appear.

I Am the Night - Color Me Black

Sheriff Charlie Koch is unable to sleep due to an execution being scheduled to take place later in the morning. Convict Jagger is to be hung after a trial in which he was tried for murdering a bigot, with a large proportion of the town convinced of the mans guilt despite the claim of self-defense. Koch however is uncertain that his trial reached the right outcome which has left the sheriff resentful towards the towns and its people. As dawn breaks however, the sun does not rise.

The Incredible World of Horace Ford

Horace Ford is a thirty-eight year old toy designer who spends too much time reminiscing over toys he had as a child. He has become frustrating to work with leading to problems with his boss, while his home life is not much better. Heading back to the street he grew up on, Horace is given the opportunity to become a small child again after seeing two young boys he thinks he remembers. However, he discovers that how he remembers his childhood is somewhat wrong.

One More Pallbearer

Millionaire Paul Radin intends on setting up a practical joke to convince three people from his life that the United States is under imminent attack. Having them come to his home, the three are revealed to be people who have dealt with Paul's selfish nature. His hope to have the trio beg for forgiveness from him in exchange for saviour by way of a place in his bomb shelter is met by their insistence that they were right to see Paul punished for his earlier transgressions, and set about leaving the chance of safety in the bomb shelter rather than apologise.

The Little People

Captain William Fletcher and his malcontent co-pilot Peter North are exploring a new worlds when passage through an uncharted meteor belt causes damge to their ship. Setting a landing on a nearby planet, they are initially unable to leave due to the damage. North, irritated at not being a leader, takes to investigating the planet and discovers that it is home to a tiny race of people who are no larger than ants. He is able to communicate with them using mathematics and eventually becomes their leader. However, when Fletcher manages to repair the spacecraft, North refuses to leave the planet and believes himself to be their god.

Cavender Is Coming

Herman Cavender is the longest serving angel without having received his "wings" and is given an assignment to improve on his previous poor performance. He is tasked with handling Agnes Grep, a clumsy woman who requires her life turning around after recently being fired again, to prevent himself being demoted. Introducing himself as her guardian angel, he sets about vastly improving her life by providing her with a mansion and new high society friends as well as a new appearance in the hope of making her truly happy. However, both Cavender and Helen find that her old life was not as bleak as they thought.

Hocus-Pocus and Frisby

Local general store owner and renowned story-teller Somerset Frisby is visited by aliens disguised as humans. He tells them tall tales about his experiences and education, which results in them believing him to be an outstanding example of humankind, which results in them insisting he return to their planet with them. Frisby finds himself in a difficult position as his attempts to convince them he was lying fail - as they have no concept of lying - though his harmonica playing proves to be a saving grace.
